    Can someone translate this?

I write to the Russian cosmonauts for autographs. Most do not speak English and have found that people who write to them in Russian get faster responses. Not to mention it's much easier on them! Could someone translate this into Russian for me? I'd be so grateful!

    "Dear

My name is Heather Johnson. I’m a great fan of yours. Therefore I would be very happy if you would autograph my piece of paper that I’ve included. Sorry, I don’t have any pictures to send along with this letter. I would be very pleased if you could fulfill my wish. Many thanks in advanced for your kindness."

    Здравствуйте
Меня зовут Heather (Damn I dunno how to transliterate this) Джонсон. Я большая ваша поклонница. И я была бы счастлива получить Ваш автограф на листке бумаги, который посылаю в этом письме, жаль, что у меня нет фотографий, которые я могла бы выслать. Мне будет очень приятно, если Вы выполните мою просьбу.
    Заранее благодарю.
    С надеждой на ответ,
    (Your name)

I'm sorry I don't know how to transliterate your name

heather is most likely хетер or гетер. Or maybe, since the dude knows she is american, she can just say "heather, johnson".

Even if he writes her name in translit... if she shows her friends or family, it's not like they will know it's not her "Real" name anyways. She can just say "And this syas hello heather ... " etc..
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

Хитер или Хизер. К примеру, Heath Ledger -> Хит Леджер (актер).
А Heather - это только женское имя?

Note to the Russians: the first vowel in Heather sounds like the 'e' in 'bed', whereas the vowel in 'Heath' sounds like the 'ea' in 'eat'. Oh and the 'th' in Heather is voiced, if that matters.

That's true but I wouldn't call smbdy Хезер - kinda not good sounding thing. I'd better falcify it a little to Хизер.

Thanks you all. I plan on keeping my name in English. So this is what I write?

If you're planning to address to a man by name, like
    Dear...(Name),
it would be Уважаемый... (m) or Уважаемая... (f)

I'd drop the last name in the signature.

    That would be too official.
The best I think would be : Здравствуйте (Name)

    Don't mind my post, okay?
I only meant to say that the addressing form like "Dear sir" is "Уважаемый"

Wouldn't Хэзер with the udarenie on the first syllable be better? Admittedly it's still nonsense, an appallingly hard name to transliterate. Just I don't understand why you prefer 'ee' sound to short 'e' sound. The way I look at it, if you asked a Russian to read out the name Хэзер (Hezer), the poor lady in question might actually recognise that she was being referred to, but if they said Хизер (Heezer), I don't think she would.

PS Should be 'falsify' .. good word though

    Thanx, man. Silly me!
And sure, I agree, very nice english word!

What about Хэзер, well, maybe может и лучше чем Хизер, короче, я хз*.

*хз - widely used slang abbriviation (pronunced ХЭ-ЗЭ)

Those who don't know how the word 'heather' is pronounced, please, open a dictionary and look for its transcription.
Now I know why "Monty Python" is "Монти Пэйтон" in DVD boxes and "character" is "чар" in gamers' slang.

I'm affraid that soon it would be fashionable "материться" here, starting with your (and QWERTYZ's) "хз".

    Шутка.

P.S. I also know why Jiangsu (province in China) is Жьянгсу on the tea packet and not Цзянсу, but this is another story.
