    "in vain" context

    Let's say you have been waiting for something to happen for a long time and you are still waiting.

    So how do you say "the time spent won't be in vain" in that context ?


    Let's say finally you get you PhD after you study so hard for so many years. So how do you say "I didn't spend all this time in vain".

    Ну, так неинтересно. Там было будущее время, а здесь прошедшее.

    "In vain" значит "напрасно", "впустую", "зря" <...> в значении "безрезультатно"
    Я не потратил (это) время впустую.
    Время не было потрачено впустую.
