Thread: Transliteration Translating Question

Hi-

I had to fix some words in the following sentence because the transliteration did not seem to be translating so well. This was the original:

SYA DO POZDNA MOJET V GOSTI PRIEDETE

When I converted it, this is how it looked:
СЯ ДО ПОЗДНА МОЕТ В ГОСТИ ПРИЕДЕТЕ

This translates as:
S'A UP TO POZDNA WASHES ON A VISIT WILL ARRIVE

If I fix some of the words, like this, I get:
СЯ ДО ПОЗДНо МОжЕТ В ГОСТИ ПРИЕДЕТЕ
СЯ UP TO LATE CAN On a visit WILL ARRIVE

The first word is giving me some problems. I am thinking what is being said here is something like:
With me, it is already too late for you to come visit

It certainly is a challenge finding the right words from transliteration

The first "word" is the ending of a reflexive verb. do pozdna=до поздна and means "till late". As for the verb I don't think it's possible to guess it exactly but for example the sentence may be the following: Он останется до поздна. (He'll stay till late). You are right about transliterating the second part but it means "maybe you'll come to visit us"- so it's an invitation on the contrary.

thank you very much. i understand a little bit more and i was trying to interpret meaning without knowing the verb that was being used.

I have three theories.
1. СЯ = УВИДИМСЯ
2. СЯ = СЕГОДНЯ
3. СЯ = ВАСЯ

PS Why people write like this!?

I have another theory - it's not Russian at all, but English.

Maybe the first letter "S" just a typo and it should've been just "YA"? Then it could be "Я до поздна (не собираюсь спать), может в гости приедете?". But it makes sense if only they live not far away from each other.

May be it is "(Я задержал)ся допоздна..."?
