    translation help, please

Hi- can someone help me with this? I know it starts saying who it is, but I don't know what the "visagi, kotoryj v Londone" is. Maybe if I understood the "kotoryj v Londone" it would help.

Then I know it asks "how are you".

And after that, again, I am a little confused.

    Thanks-
    ethan

Something along the lines of the following:

This is Yulia from Visagi, which is in London... How's it going? Write, if you still check your mail.

I think iz Visagi -> from Висага (Visaga), Литва (Lithuania)

Hello, this is Yulia form Visaga, who is in london...

But then Который, should agree with Юлия and therefore be Которая.

I think kotoryj must refer to Yulia, and be a typo. Because I live in London, and do not recognise Visaga at all.

I agree, in any case Visaga is a female noun (iz visagi proves this), so in any case it should be kotoraya.

hmmmmm. but there would be a difference:

It is Yulia from Visage, which is in London; or
It is Yulia from Visage, who is in London

in the first case, Visage can be an area, a club, a restaurant, a salon, which is in London

in the second, it can be that Yulia works or worked at a place called Visage in, for example, Russia, but she is now is in London

That makes no sense. The person wants to remind the other who she is, so she won't say:

Hello! This Yulia from Visage, which is in London! And why Visage, she didn't write iz Visage but iz Visagi.

Yulia is from the city Visaga (in Lithuania) and she is in London.

Ethan, was the original message in Cyrillic or not. And is the message to you? Because Visaga doesn't seem to be a very famous or well know place, so the person should have said it was in Lithuania.

Basically, either way it should have been kotoraya, since Yulia and Visaga are feminine.

She's from Lithuania so Russian probably isn't her first language.

    Hi.

The original message was transliterated, just as I posted it.

But this is why it is strange:
The email came to my mailbox from an address I don't know. It was a hotmail account, and part of the name was "shurik". Oh, and the subject said "darof".

The email started with "Ethan privet!"

I DO know a Yulia who lives in SPB, but she is a roomate with my very good friend. This is not her email address, and that Yulia never writes to me and I know she has not left SPB since she was born.

I sent an email to my friend but unfortunately, their electricity has not worked well due to the cold, so he has not checked his mail all week.

My friend has never left SPB either. I don't know anyone from Lithuania or London. And I don't want to answer the email in case it is spam.

    Too much information????

    Thanks-
    Ethan
