    Translation help

    I'm trying to translate the following found on a decorative plate given to a friend: "voronezh osnovan" The words appear above what looks like a university. I think it has something to do with when/how it was established?

    Yes you are right, this phrase refers to the date of creation of the city
    someday.....

    Thanks, but what do the words mean exactly, esp. "voronezh?"

    Voronezh (Воронеж) - city name
    osnovan (основан) - based, was created, (established ?)
    someday.....

    Ah, thanks. I didn't recognize it as the name of the city.
