Translating a technical question.. how well did I do?

A load cell converts weight to voltage. It's known that the transmission of a certain measurement system is 5 mV/kgf


In a computerized control system, it is necessarily to translate the analog signal, which the transducer sends off, to a digital signal through an A/D converter.

In a certain weight system, it is necessarily to measure weight in the range of 0-200 kgf, whereas the needed accuracy of the measurement is 0.5 kgf

The A/D converter which is in the conversion system, is supplied by a 5V DC (Direct Current) voltage.

1) Pick the appropriate A/D converter for this measurement system (what's the required "data bits"?)

В некоторой системе взвешивания надо измерять веса в диапазоне 0-200 кгс, необходимая точность измерения 0,5 кгс.

АЦП измерительной системы питается от источника напряжением 5В (постоянный ток).

1)Подберите подходящий АЦП для этой измерительной системы (какова необходимая разрядность данных?)

Technical translations are tricky, especially because in practical tasks you must be particularly exact and correct. You have to read and understand much special literature in both languages before you will be able to do it. No other way.

BTW in professional technical translations the translator should be native speaker of the target language.

Yea, it was really hard to translate to Russian, even the attempt was exhausting. I'll unlikely try too many hard translations like that unless I have to, but this was mostly for a challenge.

I originally translated it from Hebrew to English which was a no-brainer, so I do know the technicality or more less.

Anywho, I googled images for "Ячейка загрузки" and noticed it looks the same as "Load cell", so I didn't argue.

постоянный ток - I should've known that! I knew this word. But I put "Direct Current" on google translate like a goon :-( Really should've known that.

"Data bits" was also tricky, in Hebrew it's written as "number of bits", but in English it's not the official term, "Data bits" is. Trilingual translation is a tough business. :-)

"Ячейка загрузки" is what happens when you translate "load cell" with bad translation programs. They translate each word separately and as a result you get enigmatic nonsense.

You see, many companies that trade hardware want to have their sites in many languages but don`t want to pay for the translation. So they use bad programs to translate English content into different languages and then report about multilingual sites. Result: pictures are good but text is not intelligible. I googled "Ячейка загрузки" as a text and see many "russian" versions of foreign sites with very bad translation.

So, Russian engineer would not understand that "ячейка загрузки" unless (s)he speaks English and likes puzzles...

Лично переводил инструкции к лодке с финского и инструкцию к паяльной станции с китайско-английского, до сих пор по ним работают =) Так что достаточно быть немного в теме и уметь пользоваться гуглом.

А еще можно раздать задание, переведенное Валдой русским студентам. Вполне возможно, что большинство подберет вполне подходящий АЦП.

Я видел технические тексты, переведенные людьми, которые "немного в теме" вместе с оригинальными текстами. Большей частью можно понять и работать... вот только иногда (регулярно) встречается перевод с "точностью до наоборот", а также фразы, которые человек элементарно не понял и сочинил что-то, по его мнению, подходящее. Чаще всего это не имеет последствий, особенно в случае с инструкциями, которые никто не читает.

именно поэтому вместе с "немного в теме" нужен гугл

...в котором по запросу "ячейка загрузки" можно найти уйму красивых изображений тензодатчиков.
