"I believe in this and it's been tested by research..." (Strummer/Jones)
The Google translation goes like this:
"Я верю в это, и это было проверено исследованиями ..."
Is that a good translation?

Yes. But this is far from "natural speech".
"Я верю в это, и оно доказано наукой" (is proved by science) is better.

May be changed by rythm.
