z80,
Oh yes, lots of them, there is a big one in the ГУМ opposite the Kremlin.
nekojin17,
Not sure what a beanie is but a traditional Russian hat would be a шапка.
And шапка HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST DODGY LOOKING RUSSIAN WORD THERE IS....at least if you look at it from a English written point of view!
пол
what the hell is a beanie anyway?
Митьки никого не хотят победить!
Совсем никого не хотят победить!
a beanie is one of those things that a Jewish person wheres... its kind of a rude term for it... Catholic bishops and the pope where them too.
Agnus Dei, quitol lis pecata mundi. Miserere nobis.
..No
That would be a yarmulke for the Jews and a skullcap for the Catholics.
They look the same but it's not. Do you call the communion wafer a Triscuit?
What a Jewish person wears is ермолка or "кипа" (not sure about how much official is the latter).
ummmmm...believe me... Cardinals and bishops dont where "skull caps" it is a little bigger than a typical yamikah... believe me... i have met my bishop too many times
Agnus Dei, quitol lis pecata mundi. Miserere nobis.
Then, I hope, you don't expect Russian bishops wear such caps? I'm afraid they don't sell them in Russian shops (or at least it is not very popular article).
Russia is mainly Russian Orthodox. Russian Orthodox bishops wear crowns and such. Catholic bishops wear the "beanies."
Agnus Dei, quitol lis pecata mundi. Miserere nobis.
1. OK, I don't know why you quoted the word skullcap since it exists in the English language. It is what the Pope wears. That is the word for them. Remember when he was in Israel and it blew off his head? What did they call it in the news again? Beanie? No. Yarmulke? No. Skullcap? Yes.ummmmm...believe me... Cardinals and bishops dont where "skull caps" it is a little bigger than a typical yamikah... believe me... i have met my bishop too many times
2. You said "Catholic bishops and the pope where them too" in reference to a beanie. Now you're saying the bishops don't wear them, but something a little bigger. Will it be a ten-gallon cowboy hat in your next reply?
a beanie isnt even a name for it
Agnus Dei, quitol lis pecata mundi. Miserere nobis.
Yes, here is the actual term:
calotte
SYLLABICATION: ca·lotte
PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: k-lt KEY
NOUN: Ecclesiastical A skullcap, especially one worn by Roman Catholic priests.
ETYMOLOGY: French, from Proven

I'm still looking and haven't yet found a good russian online clothing shop.

may be "тюбетейка"
just found it in Lingvo
by beanie i'm picturing something along the lines of a skullcap with a propeller on it. At least they looked like that.
from an old cartoon called beanie and cecil.. look at the kids hat
I've often wondered, is it actually possible to fly wearing one of those propellor-equipped hats? Or not?
With the help of an airplane, yes.Originally Posted by Steve L
