Russian podcast spoonful of Russian words

At the beginning of each podcast they say 2 words. Storivan and Zemichagdela. I cannot find the meaning of Storivan?? I did find the meaning of Zemichagdela as Wonderfully but the dictionary gives another way to say this .(ch oo d ye s kn ee) I never know which to use.

Could someone tell me what these words mean and why two meanings of the second.

BTW This is a great podcast for beginners like me. Spoonful of russian .com

I think that they are saying
    Zdorovo! Kak dela?
    Zamechatelno!

    Hello! How are you?
    Great!

Yes, zamechatelno can be translated as wonderful, and chudesno means wonderful too. They are synonyms. You can use both in the reply to Kak dela? but zamechatelno is more common.

"Storivan" (он же книгомобиль) means those vans that drive around that contain stories for children to read.
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

We long ago established that I have no brain, so that pretty much rules me out...

The words are said by the podcaster's (AMERICAN) husband (e.g. bad accent), and daughter who was born and brought up in America (probably bad accent).

Thanks you for the help. At least I know what they are saying on one of the words. I hear them over and over every time I listen to a new podcast and it is frustrating that they never tell you what they mean. I asked a friend from St. Petersburg and she did not know what they were saying either when they said the word that sounds like "Storivan". At least I learned one new word. Thanks again.

Thanks again all. you were all correct. It is a bad accent. I just figured it out by using this great talking dictionary

    http://www.livelaughlovelearn.com/gloss/

They are saying Great ZDOR a va
Sounds like stori van everytime I play it.

    Thanks again

Well... I am afraid I was confused. Two Russian words zdorovo ("great") and zdorovo (unceremonious "hello") are written equally but differ in stress position and mean different things. The phonetic example in that glossary is zdorovo. So it is another "great" for you.

Thanks again for your replys. I have one more word that she keeps saying everytime the daughter gets one right. I also am not sure of the pronunciation on this one but it sounds like

    Mala dyets

Maybe another word for good or great? Every English word seems to have many ways to say it in Russian and this is difficult for me.

Yes, it's молодец --- "you're doing very good!"

By the way, this word also has another stress, at the beginning, making another sense.
«И всё, что сейчас происходит внутре — тоже является частью вселенной».

    молодец (n) - fine fellow, brick; fine girl;
молодец! — well done! (a common praise, especially to a child)

    молодец (n) - brave (man).

    There is also a proverb:
Молодец против овец, а против молодца - и сам овца.

Thanks again everyone. You are most helpful. I am learning. My kids were born in Russia and I need to teach them Russian when they are old enough. Therefore I am trying hard to learn and find this site most helpful. Much appreciated. Scott

Good for you. Make them as multilingual as possible now; then by the time they're through with college they can speak about 6 languages.
