Thread: Desperate for a bit more help!

Hey again everyone!

I've just got a few sentences that I need some help with-I understand what the words mean but don't really know how to translate them into good English?

i) вот уже четыре года они встречают Новый год вместе

ii) в полночь поздравляли друг друга с Новым годом

iii) каждому нужен будет маскарадный костюм

iv) но костюм должен быть интересным

they have been celebrating the New Years together for 4 years now

ii) в полночь поздравляли друг друга с Новым годом

at midnight they wished each other Happy New Year

iii) каждому нужен будет маскарадный костюм

Everyone will need a masquerade costum

iv) но костюм должен быть интересным

but the costum has to be interesting

Doesn't "dress up" mean smth like "наряжаться", so it could be understood as if ypu ask them to put on a nice suit/dress (not necessarily masquerade one)?

well, yes, it can be ambiguous. You might want to add, "everyone needs to dress up as something".
