Cheburashka – the fairy-tale character thought of by soviet child's writer Uspenskiy.
Origin of Cheburashka is not explained. He was found in a box with oranges, and can be both an unknown animal from distant countries, and magic creature, like a gnome.
It’s impossible to translate his name accurately, cause this word was invented by Uspensky from Russian slang verb "чебурахнуться" (“cheburahnut’sya”), which means “to fall”. This name was given to Cheburashka by a man, who found him in oranges, cause Cheburashka fell few times in a row.
