Playing Around and It Doesn't Hurt

When American say "playing around with" as in the first sentence, we mean to experiment with. Does "playing around with" in this sense translate to "играя вокруг с" or would this be misconstrued?

Интерфейс интуитивно понятен, который в основном означает, что вы можете вычислять его вне, играя вокруг с им.

(The interface is intuitive, which basically means that you can figure it out by playing around with it.)

Similarly, "it doesn't hurt to have" is just a way to say "it's good to have". Does Russian have a commonly used equivalent to "it doesn't hurt to have" or is it better to just translate from "it's good to have"?

it doesn't hurt to have - "не повредит", "не будет лишним"

Playing around with means изучать что-либо, most likely by your own, without a tutor.
Игра вокруг at the best sense means game which is happening around you e.g. at casino or playzone with proper facilities supporting this type of activity.

Literal idioms exist in russian:

"playing around" = "поиграться". Ex: "Поиграться с настройками" = "Try different settings to learn their effects (and, possibly, apply most effective one)". It is a little bit unofficial idiom.

"it doesn't hurt to..." = "не повредит ...".
So:
"Nevertheless, it doesn’t hurt to have some guidance and this is the reason for this series of tutorials." =
"Тем не менее, не повредит иметь некоторое руководство...", but it will be more russian without "иметь": "Тем не менее, некоторое руководство не повредит.." (roles of words are changed, but overall meaning is the same. russian natural speech avoids to use verbs "is" and "have")
Second part is unnatural for russian speaker. It's better to rephrase: "и поэтому была создана эта серия учебных пособий" or "и поэтому я написал эту серию учебных пособий" or "поэтому существует эта серия учебных пособий". In short, "it is reason for..." usually needs verb in russian and usually can be shortened to "поэтому"/"вот почему" and so on.

Would both of these sentences:
1) Тем не менее, не повредит некоторое руководство поэтому существует данная серия уроков.
2) Тем не менее, не повредит небольшое руководство, чем и является данная серия уроков.
be understood equally well to mean:

Nevertheless, it doesn’t hurt to have some guidance and this is the reason for this series of tutorials.
???

"чем и является данная серия уроков." = "and this series of tutorials is it (this 'some guidance')".
