    live music

Can somebody translate the following into Russian?
    Thanks in advance.

The live music was so loud, that I got a headach, and I could not even think.

Живая музыка была настолько громка, что кружится голова, и я не мог даже думать.

Well, i don't normally do this but i'll go ahead and guess. Though i'm probably wrong this is what i would say. And i dont even know where to put commas so i'll just exclude them altogether.

Живая музыка была такая громкая что болела голова и я даже не мог думать.

Good job, kwatts59! I found only one error in your translation.
    It seems to me that:
to have/get a headache is usually used as follows:
    У меня болела голова.

What about 'feel dizzy' in the English version? That's not crucial, I just want to clarify what you meant.

    Dogboy182
The sentence of yours looks fine to me.

P.S. I don't know why but the collocation "живая музыка" seems a little bit akward in both sentences. It's fine, though. Maybe, just музыка? What about the English sentence? Doesn't the collocation 'live music' sound akward, maybe kind of casual?

See the edited version of my previous post. I saw your post after I'd posted mine.

    About your "live music" question.

Yes I guess it sounds a little out of place, it just emphasizes that where u were music was most likely being put on by a band or DJ, other than a machine or something. I guess its not SO important to say this and just 'music' would be fine i suppose.

The only reason i left живая in was because i remember seeing on a russkiy razmer website a link to "Живие Концерты" or something. So i figured, live concerts, live music... Must be 'ok' to use.

I quess those guys on that website also wanted to emphasize that the concerts they were going to stage would be performed live.
Живая музыка is ok. I think it's same as in English. It's not SO important to say this.

I wanted to say "live music" because there was a band playing at the restaurant rather than just radio music.

I was fearful that "live music" would not translate properly into Russian since it sounds like the music is a living, breathing being. But I think it is common American English to say "live music", "live concerts", "live performances".

Anyway, thanks for all the help.

To say "The music was so loud", could you say "Музыка была так громкая"?

No you would have to say Такая.
    Музыка была такая громкая.

Which, if you read my above post... That is exactly what i said.

I wanted to say "live music" because there was a band playing at the restaurant rather than just radio music.
Kwatts. Thats also exactly what i said. I said "to emphasize a band or Dj is playing music rather than a machine" (Like a radio).

I really wish people would start listening to me ALL THE time, not just for when im complaining.

Yes, you can but with one slight correction.
    Музыка была такая громкая.

kwatts59, thanks for the explanation. I'd really like other natives to say what they think about the usage of 'живая музыка' in Russian. Maybe, they'll say it sounds fine to them.

I know that you explained that first! You post was about 2 mins earlier than mine. What's the problem? I just couldn't see that you'd already answered Darobat's question because we were writing our posts at the same time.

I'm not going to answer Darobat's next question so you can do it first.

You're right in saying no one ever listens to you on the forum. We're in the same boat. People can only read our posts. Why don't we buy microphones and upgrade the forum so we can speak to one another?

Такой has an adjective ending, as you can see.

So when your saying things about "so, such, like, like so" and they have a gender you need to use такой.

Он такой голубой - Hes so gay!
Музыка такая громкая - the music is so loud.
я был такой 'What the hell?' - I was like 'What the hell?'

When saying "so", about things that are like, adverbs or that arn't adjectives and dont need to decline regularly, use так.

    Вот так- Like so.
Так давно назад... - so long ago...
я так тебя люблю - I soooo love you!
Так вести себя- So behave yourself

And so on and so fourth.

Oh, Don't worry. Im not really mad or anything. Don't take me seriously. Feel free to post what you want when you want. Its a free country.

its just annoying when people say "how do you say 'this'?"

And then 7 people answer "this". It only takes 1 freakin person.

Your Russian sentence is akward I'd say
    "И я типа: Какого чёрта?"

be like is slang, isn't it?

Maybe its just how russians talk after they've been in america for awhile but i hear it all the time.

I think типа is good too, but is it so wrong to say something like "Он был такой "ГДЕ МОЯ ЖЕНА?" после того как он пришёл домой один.

типа is fine. Where do you hear "он был такой" all the time? It sounds really strange to me. It's not SO wrong. It's JUST wrong.
