Thread: Зелёная карета

I am having some problems with my dictionary.
It does not appear to recognize diminutives very well.
I typed "мышата" into my dictionary and it returned "little mice".
I typed "медвежата" returned "bear cubs".
Are these words really plural or is my dictionary messed up.
What is спят? I know it is some form of спать, "to sleep", but the imperative form is спи/спите.
I am also having problems with the word ведь. I've heard it many times and my interpretation is "of course" or "IT IS" or "surely" or an intensifier of sorts.

Anyways, based on what I said above, here is my English rendition of Зелёная карета.
I would greatly appreciate any help in correcting any errors.

мышонок (baby mouse) is diminutive of мышь (mouse)
мышата (baby mice) is the plural of мышонок (baby mouse)

мышонок (Именительный падеж единственного числа)
мышонка (Родительный падеж единственного числа)
мышонку (Дательный падеж единственного числа)
мышонка (Винительный падеж единственного числа)
мышонком (Творительный падеж единственного числа)
мышонке (Предложный падеж единственного числа)

мышонки/мышата (Именительный падеж множественного числа)
мышонков/мышат (Родительный падеж множественного числа)
мышонкам/мышатам (Дательный падеж множественного числа)
мышонков/мышат (Винительный падеж множественного числа)
мышонками/мышатами (Творительный падеж множественного числа)
мышонках/мышатах (Предложный падеж множественного числа)

мышата is a synonym for мышонки

c "мышонками" для множественного числа от слова "мышонок" кстати поаккуратнее это архаика полюбому. так что остаются "мышата"

Маленькое замечание:
Здесь на дворе имеется ввиду "outside".

Может быть "in hight" и будет правильный перевод, не знаю.
Интересно, как это было в сонете Шекспира.
"И жаворонком, вопреки судьбе,
Моя душа несется в вышину!"

I am not used to translating children's rhyme, but here it is. Maybe you will like it.

Little mice are sleeping, little hedgehogs, too,
Little bears keep snoring all night through.
In the silvery silence, very, very high,
A green-coloured craft is coming on the fly.

There are horses harnessed, pulling it along,
They're six in number, they're rapid and they're strong.
Moving at a gallop lifts them off the ground...
No one's able to run it down 'cause it's Spring that goes round.

Little bears and little mice,
Little hedghehogs, little lice -
Sleep all beasts and sleep all kids.
In the early silent hours
Clang of horseshoes make you rouse.
Looking out will prove you're right -
It is Spring now outside.

I did not figure out where to put the rook. Bad, but without it there is no metaphor of the Spring.
Oh, and I omitted the line about hats... And I was racking my brains how to make the line "No one's able..." to sound good. As you see it is not worked out. Also i put "lice" to form a rhyme. It is very hard to get animals and children rhyming. Moreover, the size of the last part is not like of the others.
