    Monsters

    Помогите пожалуйста с следующими английскими словами.

    Monster - Урод или Чудовище?

    Я нигде не могу найти перевод:

    Undine (нимфа воды)

    Golem (чудовище из частей тела разных трупов как создание Доктора Франкенштейна)

    Goblin

    Catwoman (not from Batman, but just a woman who is half cat)

    Я нашёл два слова:

    Genie - Джинн, Дух
    Zombie - Вялый Человек, Живой Труп
    Wizard - Волшебник, Кудесник

    Я нашёл три слова:
    Enchantress - Волшебница, Чародейка, Колдунья
    Ghost - Призрак, Фантом, Привидения

    What are the best words for the above?

    Is there a simpler way of saying 'zombie' in one word?

    Большое спасибо!

    Meaning Чудовище is more common.
    Undine (нимфа воды) - Ундина (У Жуковского есть поэма Ундина) or русалка

    Golem (чудовище из частей тела разных трупов как создание Доктора Франкенштейна) - (make no mistake) Голем был сделан из глины, а не из частей тела разных трупов.

    Goblin - Гоблин
    Simak's work " Goblins' reservation" was translated into Russian as "Заповедник гоблинов"

    Genie - Джинн, Дух
    Zombie - Вялый Человек, Живой Труп -Зомби
    Wizard - Волшебник, Кудесник, Колдун (depending on context)

    Enchantress - чаровница, очаровательница
    Волшебница, Чародейка, Колдунья - sorceress
    Ghost - Призрак, Фантом, Привидениe (context)

    What are the best words for the above? - depending on context

    Is there a simpler way of saying 'zombie' in one word? yes, Зомби

    Большое спасибо, но у меня ещё вопросы...

    Which word should I use? (The word the most used)

    Wizard - Волшебник, Кудесник, Колдун
    This wizard is like Merlin from the Disney movie "The Sword in the Stone".

    Enchantress - чаровница, очаровательница
    Волшебница, Чародейка, Колдунья - sorceress
    This enchantress is a very seductive woman who focuses her magic on love spells mostly.

    Ghost - Призрак, Фантом, Привидениe
    This ghost is just one of your run-of-the-mill ghosts, who haunts homes and what not.

    Maybe with that description, you can understand the context a little bit better.

    Thanks a lot for you help!!!

    Usually we say злой колдун, but добрый волшебник; злая колдунья, but добрая волшебница.

    About Ghost, I checked three translations of Hamlet, they all call the GHOST of Hamlet's Father differently: Дух отца Гамлета (.Д. В. Аверкиев), Призрак отца Гамлета (Б. Пастернак), Тень отца Гамлета (А. Кронеберг). Choose for yourself.

    Haunted house, on the other hand, is дом с привидениями

    Большое спасибо за вашу помочь, но я знал что голем был сделан из глины, но когда я это написал я забыл что я писал, и описал чудовище Доктора Франкенштейна.

    Большое спасибо!

    Я бы хотел знать как сказать a "catwoman" по-русски.
    A woman who is half cat and half woman, but not the word for the catwoman from Batman. Я думаю что её имя - Женщина-кошка.
    If there is no other word for it and the name used in Batman is the way to call it, just tell me.

    Thanks a lot!!!

    I do not like Женщина-кошка very much, but cannot offer anything better off hand. I guess, it will have to do for now.

    Why? I haven't heard better translations for these:
    batman = человек-летучая мышь
    spiderman = человек-паук
    mothman = человек-мотылёк
    catwoman = женщина-кошка

    Идут по улице мама-мышка с мышонком. Мышонок поднимает голову, видит летучую мышь и кричит: "Мама, смотри! Ангел пролетел!"

    I like this too. Is this from Russian children's story?

    It is a joke, which is one of a great deal of that kind.
