Thread: I think I'm starting to like you?

How do you say I think I'm starting to like you ?

I ran this through a bunch of online translators and they either didn't make any sense or they would write something in Russian like "I think I'm starting to love you"... which is definitely not what I was trying to figure out how to say.

Кажется, Вы/вы начинаете мне нравиться.
Кажется, Вы/вы мне начинаете нравиться.
Кажется, ты начинаешь мне нравиться.
Кажется, ты мне начинаешь нравиться.

But it sounds somewhat haughty, arrogant and condescending, if you ask me. Better something like: (Знаете,) Вы мне нравитесь./Ты мне нравишься.

thanks, I really appreciate all the variations cause it helps with Russian in general too.

I know it might seem kinda strange, I just want to know it for very specific circumstances.

But I also wanted to learn this phrase just to get a better insight on how to correctly build more complex phrases.

actually this verb нравиться really screws me up... perhaps someone could shed some light on this?

The thing is, reflexive verbs sound easy enough... but when I tried to construct simple sentences like I like you, you like me - just as grammatical exercises... my friends would tell me the correct way to say it and it would sound "ass-backward" to me but I think I know what's going on, I'd just like someone to confirm that my thinking is correct.

I like you Ты мне нравишься
you like me Ты меня нравлюсь

I believe those 2 phrases are translated correctly,although not sure about the spelling.

The reason it seems so strange to me is that I -ишься is a 2nd person ending when I would have thought it should be first person because I'm the one doing the liking...

then I stumbled across a computer online translation once... and it would translate not as "to like" but as "to please".

So I think this makes sense now... It is not "I like you", but rather "you please me"

and not "you like me" but "I please you"

did I get this correct?

so other verbs should be constructed just as I would have thought, like:

You smile at me Ты мне улибаешься
You laugh at me Ты мне смеешься

- I think I will like you

- You will like me

- I think you will like me

Ok, so here comes the power of the "по" to form the future tense.

- I will like you
=> Ты мне понравишься.

- I think I will like you
=> Мне кажется, ты мне понравишься.

- You will like me
=> Я тебе понравлюсь.

- I think you will like me
=> Мне кажется, я тебе понравлюсь.

- He will like it
=> Ему это понравится.

ok, thanks... it seems pretty straight forward. I think I had better fix all my verbs to properly know all the perfectives.
