My current thread is very long.

In English we could say the following:

I love you. Я тебя люблю
I like you.
How do I say ' I like you' in Russian?

In French it is Je t'aime.
II like you a lot. Je t'aime bien.

The French "Je t'aime" would be "I love you" in English, not "I like you". There is the verb "plaire" in French (Russian "нравиться"). "I like you" would be "Tu me plais" in French (if I am not mistaken) and "Ты мне нравишься" in Russian (here, I am definitely not mistaken).

You are not mistaken here.
The French verb 'plaire' is known to everybody who has a smattering of French.
Generally it means 'please'.
In French it is common to say 's'il vous plaît' when you want to say 'please'.
It is from the verb 'plaire'.
Je plais.
Tu plaît.

I didn't think of the French verb 'plaire' as the meaning of it borders to pleasing.
However, you are 100% correct.
It is fine to say the following:
Elle me plaît. I like her.
cet homme me plaît. I like this man.
Il plaît. People like him OR He is popular.

It means like as well as please.
I have forgotten a lot of Russian. Thanks to the forum I am revising my knowledge.

In Russian the verb “to like” has a different government.
I (subject) like (predicate) girls (object) = Мне (object in dative!!!) нравятся (predicate) девушки (subject!!!)

What do you (subject) like? = Что тебе (object in dative) нравится (predicate). The Russian sentence has no a subject, because the interrogative word «что» try to find out it. By the way, the «что» is ask of nominative (кто?, что?), and if you see this word, answer is subject or object in accusative (кого?, что?).

You can never write correct Russian without your help. I just look at the Cyrillic alphabet write in Russian.
It is not easy.

Hm... It's strange for me. If you listen a pronunciation of a word, you can spell it, because in Russian one sound -- one letter. English alphabet is more difficult for me. For example, if you listen "k", how can you recognize a letter ("c" or "k")? However maybe Russian is easy for me, becouse I'm Russian?..

As Оля said: Je t'aime means I love you. Je t'aime bien or Tu me plais is I like you. I like you a lot would be Tu me plais beaucoup. Of course, different circumstances ask for different ways of saying something. But these are the typical translations.

It was about 4 years ago I studied Russian with Tatiana.
I studied Russian for the first time in 1997 or 1998. It was not with a native Russian teacher.

It took more than 48 hours to get an answer. It seems all our friends who helps me are on holiday without any access to the Internet.

I am used to telling among my friends the following:
I am a bloody foreigner.

I just want to know how do you say this in Russian.

In French we say 'Je suis un sale étranger'.
Usually the French word 'sale' means dirty.
