Thread: Help with Signatures...

Hi Folks!


I have a number of vintage Russian paintings, some with signatures that were fairly straightforward, and so I did not have much trouble translating them. There are five, though, that I either cannot translate at all, or I can read a few of the letters, but then find I have trouble with some of the others. While I have studied a number of different websites on reading and writing the Cyrillic alphabet, it is entirely too important that I gets these names right, which is why I am turning to you. Any help you can offer would be dearly appreciated.

In five URLs you gave there is one and the same reference.
The signature is almost indiscernable, but the only name i can imagine is -
В. Ермаков. I might be wrong, though.

After second thought i managed to recognize in this signature somebody named В. Ермолаев . Yes, it's В. Ермолаев , rather then Ермаков

The link that is (now) present ought to allow access to the entire album.

As for the translation, thank you very much (!). If correct, and I do trust that it is, the artist would be Vladimir Ermakov.

Hmm? There is also a Vassily Ermilov. Any chance you think it might be him, instead?

Unfortunatly, all five pictures are the same.

Are you seeing 5 links or just one link? I removed the individual links about an hour ago. Maybe if you refresh your browser you will see the corrected version with a link to the album, with the five photos inside, instead of individual signatures?

There is only one link, but the picture does not change when i press "continue" button in the album. The image refreshes, but the picture is the same.

It seems we can not browse your album without being registered on that site. Please insert individual links, maybe it will work.
