I wrote a poem in English that I thought would translate well into Russian, and tried to translate it using a textbook and google, so there's probably a lot of mistakes. Can someone look over this and correct the parts that don't make sense? It's for a gift for my nephew so I'd like it to be as accurate as possible, but keep it fairly simple because he can't even speak yet.
This is my poem in English:
On the Hunt
There once was a fox
The fox went out on a cold night
He prayed for the moon to light his way
Because he was going on a long journey
He ran down to the farmer's house
and he snuck into where the chickens sleep
He said "some of you are going in my belly
before I go home tonight”
The fox grabbed the biggest chicken with his right hand
and grabbed another with his left hand
he watched all the feathers fall
and felt the legs hang over his shoulder
the old gray Woman left the bed
she looked outside and yelled
“Ivan the chickens are gone!
the fox is on the hunt!

На Oхоте
Жил-был лиса
лиса старался изо в холодную ночь
Он молился за лунойчтобы осветить его путь
Потому что он собирался на долгое путешествие
Он побежал к дому фермера
и он прокрался в куры спят
Он сказал "некоторые из вас собираются в моем животе
прежде чем я уйду домой сегодня вечером”
Лиса схватил самый большой цыпленок с его правой рукой
и схватил другой левой рукой
он смотрел все перья падают
и чувствовали ножки повесить через плечо
старый серый девушку покинул кровать
она смотрела на улицу и крикнул
“Иван куры ушли!
лиса на охоту!”
