In an example like this, it's probably a good idea to explain that "Lea Michele" is a female, not a male, since it changes the Russian translation! Specifically, Lea is an actress on the TV show "Glee".
(I don't watch "Glee" and had never heard of "Lea Michele" until I Googled for the name 30 seconds ago! True, the name "Lea" is usually feminine in English, but one can't always judge correctly by name.)
Also, любимец (masc.) and любимица (fem.) can mean "the favorite one", but more in the envious sense of "what a damned annoying teacher's pet". So if you were a different actor/actress on "Glee" and you disliked Lea because she's so popular, then maybe you could call her любимица, but it wouldn't be a compliment!
Although I'm not a native Russian, I think you can use the following translation, assuming that you're a man:
Я выделил бы Лею Мишел как мою любимую звезду из труппы "Glee".
(I would single out Lea Michele as my favorite star from the "Glee" troupe.)
If you're a woman, simply use the feminine verb выделила instead of the masculine выделил.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
Thanks to you all. I very much appreciate them.
