Thread: Can you help me?

Hi everyone! I am from taiwan and i have recently fall in love with a Russian girl. As she is going home this sunday, I want to write her a card to tell her all my feelings, in Russian. What I want to say is:

I found that we have so much in common,

It will be the best part of my life if we can travel to Russia
to see her concert again, and of course, we will let her
see our pink ballons together, without fail...

P.S. is it necessary to use "handwriting" letters for the card, or i can also use printed form?

Sorry, I can't help you with the translation, as i've only been studying for 1.5 years. But I can say it would look awkward if you wrote it out in block lettering type form - you'd have to actually to use "handwriting" letters. Or you could just type it out and print it, but not too romantic I think

P.S. Why don't you just tell her how you feel in english, rather than giving her a card, where the meaning has the potential to get lost a bit in the translation? She does speak english, right?

You are right about some of the meaning will be
"lost in translation", and yes she does speak good English.

But it would show that i am making effort and really,
i mean every single word i wrote.

so guys, if you can help me to say what i want to say, please dont hesitate, coz i need this so much and
it's ok even if the translation is not entirely correct,
since she would realise that i got help from a friend.

I am counting on you guys!

Rule NO 1: Don't post your translation twice (or more)! Please delete it from the other thread. What happens is that if someone sees the other translation request first, they will waste their time translating it when it might already have been done.

Now, I will translate this, however, it won't be perfect. I am sure a Russian will come along and whack me in the head. But here I go

You're welcome But if you do get whacked in the head, it might not necessarily mean a YES. In Russia, they have a weird tradition of whacking people in the head when they mean NO. Two whacks means maybe, and three - YES!

I hope it will go well (but I would still wait a little, so our native speakers can correct my translation, before professing it)! Keep up posted!

Three whacks means YES? Right, that will be my mission today then~i think i might add it at the end of my speech to her: Please hit my head three times~! After I read your translation i couldn't sleep last night, and i suddenly have a whole new plan about how to start this with her...would you say "Подари мне свою любовь" to her if you were me? Is that consider to be cute and cheerful?

Let's say it's good enough (I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole )

If the translation is too stylish, a question will arise how many people have worked on it, and it does look kinda personal. "Oh, but you see, I posted it on the internet... and your address too..."
