    Letter to Babushka

    Hello!
I need a translation for this (somewhat long) letter, and I am in no way capable of attempting it on my own, because my Russian is very lacking.
One person doesn't have to translate the whole letter, but if you can do one paragraph each and proof read each other's translations, it would be greatly appreciated. (I'm splitting up the paragraphs by numbers to make it more organized). Please write formally, and not as though you're speaking to a friend on the internet.

    Thank you,
    Lisa

    Here is the letter:

1.) We hope you're doing well and enjoying the beautiful season of fall. It's become overly cold here in the past few weeks, and both Lisa and I have already gotten sick!

2.) For us, these past months have been very busy. We have begun school once again in September and are now stuck in the turmoil and stresses of university life. It's a struggle finding a single moment of rest from this hectic lifestyle. In the few serene times that we have, we usually read and think about our futures.

3.) Sometimes the thought of Zhidachev still resonates in our memories. The peaceful streets and the warmth of your home have definitely caused some nostalgia in our hearts. We really hope that our family will be united in Canada in the near future.

4.) The past two months have been filled with plenty of birthdays. First your son's birthday-- which we celebrated by going to a family dinner at a German restaurant. On September 30, we celebrated Lisa's birthday with her family and had an enjoyable dinner at her house. The weekend of my birthday was also a series of exciting events. On Friday, Lisa planned a surprise party with my six good friends at a Russian restaurant, where we ate kasha, cherry pirogies, and Classic Kiev Chicken.

    5.)
On Saturday, we visited Lisa's grandmother and also celebrated my birthday. On Sunday, October 8, we visited the park with our family and enjoyed the vivid fall colours of the forest. Later that Sunday, I was once again surprised with a celebration of my birthday at Lisa's aunt's house! Finally, an entire week later, my best friend's mother baked me a cake for my past birthday.

6.) We plan to find some Russian books by Dostoevsky and Tolstoy to send to you. I have the English versions of several of their books: War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, and Notes from Underground. Also, we are sending you a pretty notebook for you to keep and occasionally write in. Hopefully to make our letters more frequent, we are sending you some decorative paper and matching envelopes.

7.) Despite our far separation, we will never cease loving you. We pray that God will gift you with health, hope, faith, happiness, and wisdom.

3.) Sometimes the thought of Zhidachev still resonates in our memories. The peaceful streets and the warmth of your home have definitely caused some nostalgia in our hearts. We really hope that our family will be united in Canada in the near future.

On Friday, Lisa planned a surprise party with my six good friends at a Russian restaurant, where we ate kasha, cherry pirogies, and Classic Kiev Chicken.

5.) On Saturday, we visited Lisa's grandmother and also celebrated my birthday.

Also, we are sending you a pretty notebook for you to keep and occasionally write in. Hopefully to make our letters more frequent, we are sending you some decorative paper and matching envelopes.
В надежде, что наши письма будут более частыми, мы посылаем тебе обёрточную бумагу (what do you mean decorative paper?)

7.) Despite our far separation, we will never cease loving you. We pray that God will gift you with health, hope, faith, happiness, and wisdom.

Also If the name Олежа derives from Олег, the dimimutive form of it would be Олежка. And Lisa is Лиза по-русски.
Send me a PM if you need me.

Thank you, Ramil for translating the whole letter!

By "decorative paper", I just mean regular paper with a design on it (such as a flower drawn on it).

Well, it wouldn't be обёрточная бумага, but бумага с рисунком. I can't find anything more suitable.

Can somebody please proof-read what Ramil translated?
I have found one mistake: хоршо instead of хорoшо.

That is about the extent of my proofreading, so I need some help.

    Thank you.

    It's not a mistake, it's a typo.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.
