"Словно" is a bit "eloquent". "Будто" и "как будто" are normally used in subjunctive mood and are functionally equivalent to "as if". Then there are "вроде" and "типа", which are similar to "like" and "kind of". Funnily, the similarity extends to the way "like" and "kind of" are used as an interjection in "uneducated" English speech: "so, like, we went, like, to her kinda place, like". "Ну, типа, мы вроде пошли, типа, к ней, вроде как."
