What does никакого mean here ?

Litteraly it transates as "no kind of", but in this context it just means "any".

As in "I don't see any letter" (assuming that аписьма is a typo and not a real word outside of my limited vocabulary).

Russian used multiple negatives, unlike standard English. So it's perfectly normal to say

I don't see no letter.

What [or: what kind of] letter do you see?
Какое письмо ты видишь?

I don't see any letter.
Я не вижу никакого письма.
