Thread: образ Временной Пятницы...

ok i was looking on www.skazka.com.ru the other day and i found this short story http://www.skazka.com.ru/people/russia/ ... ussia.html, everythings ok apart from these three things.

firstly who is Временной Пятницы (ill leave the names in case)
secondly who is Егория Храброго and finally in the last sentence (below)what does "так копытища и задирает!" mean . typically i failed to understand the fricken puch line

So, judging by context Временная Пятница и Егорий Храбрый are some saints because word "образ" here means "icon". But who they exactly are I don't know, maybe somebody will explain.

Here "вишь" is the word "видишь" (look, see). Sometimes it is pronouced like "вишь" and author wrote it in such way to transfer colloquial speech. "Копытища" is plural form from "копытище" which means "big копыто" (big hoof). "Задирать" means "to lift high" (legs, hoofs or skirt, for example), and so the horse is lifting his big hoofs. Word "и" doesn't mean "and" This is one of those cases when it is used for making the sentense more expressive (relates to word "задирает"). With word "так" it makes pair. And I don't know how to explain element "-то" behing word "конь" It is similar to word "that"(тот) or "this"(этот) It is like putting more attention to word "конь".

The whole story sucks

it sais in one of my books that то can also be a weaker form of же, but still that has to be one of the most dissapointing ends to a story ive ever heard
