Thread: За то, что

I see this a lot, especially in poetry, but I'm not completely sure of its meaning. Can someone please help me. Thank you.

Its kinda like "because" or "for the reason"

я ненавижу тебя за то что от тебя пахнёт сигаретами.
I hate you because you smell like cigarettes.


Im sure someone can explain it better but thats pretty much what it means.

for, on account of, because of, etc.

пахнёт is pornounced "pakh-nyot"
пахнет is pornounced "pakh-nit"
