If you say so I might be mistaken after all. All in all, what I see there are religious examples. From what I can tell that means: "try to seduce someone into doing something bad or sinful" as we're talking religion here. I'm not a religious person myself, so maybe that's why I don't really like the phrase. I'd just use the verb искушать in this case if need be.
I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true. If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.
