Best way to send iPOD to friend in Peter

I'm considering giving my friend in Peter an iPOD for Christmas.

I can buy one here and it ship it from the U.S. However, USPS currently has a ban on shipping overseas electronics with lithium-ion batteries. I could use FedEX, but it looks too complicated and costly.

I could buy one on a Russian website and have it shipped to my friend. Unfortunately, it's 358 USD as compared to 220 USD in the states.

Any other ideas or input? Thanks. Also, Russia prohibits electronic devices that transceive. The iPOD classic doesn't have wifi or anything like that, so I think that it might pass customs.

I figured out that it is forbiden to send goods from individiuals to indivudials at Russia. I also try to send something to my friend at Peter and Fedex, DHL, UPS all told me that you cannot send goods to a personal address at Russia. What I figured out was you must send the goods to a firm address, or the address the goods are sent from must be a firm address. So I think the formula is like this>>>firm(located abroad) to Individual (located at russia) OR Individaul(located abroad) to firm(located at russia). Good luck.

    Use the US Mail.
Fill out a customs declaration. Send another gift in the package (Texas trinket? I use printed tee shirts) and declare it too. That helps establish it as a gift and avoids import duty.
    Priority and INSURED!

    Takes forever but it works.

    OK. Thread Hijack!

How to write "DO NOT FOLD" on a large envelope?

    Lazy translate: Не складывайте

Side note: I'm not impressed by the Russian Mail or FedEx, UPS, DHL package delivery in Russia.
Russian Mail is horribly slow. 2 weeks for a post card is, to be kind, bad.
One of my "kids" stated: "Russian Mail is still Soviet".
UK and Western Europe is a week for a post card. OK. Low priority. Czech Republic, Ukraine, Latvia, Bulgaria is a week. Belarus up to a month.

I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.
If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.

Thank you. Would you like a postcard?
Send your address in PM or ICQ.
I will send 10 postcards to the next people that send a mail address. Any country.
