Thread: Привет, to all

I just registered on this forum, and wanted to introduce myself. My name is tomasz, I live in the US, and I have a big interest in learning Russian. I've already studied it a little, and it doesn't seem too hard. It seems that my Polish also helps. Anyway, I look foward to talking with everyone here.

I've always wanted to learn it since I was in 3rd grade. I've just never had any real motivation to do it until now.

So now you are motivated. None too motivated to tell us what the heck your story is, well anyway, welcome.

All I can say is its going to be hard, real hard....at times you are going to break down, you'll cry, you'll wonder if you can go on another day. But hang in there.

Anyway, I've been studying for about 3 years. But I wasn't always serious enough, it takes a lot to learn a new language. I don't have polish to help me, so I'm a bit disabled in that way.

Last few months I've decided to really build vocabulary...trying to get as many words per day as possible. I got a video iPod and I have been playing dual subtitled movies for about a week...and I have to say my language acquisition is threefold greater now.

That's a really good idea. I would have never thought to do that. But I think I'll stick with the weekly Russian soap-operas that are on TV.
