Need a Dish to Make for class

So here's the deal. A friend and I have to make a Russian dish to present to our class. So we need to know which dishes are good and the ingredients/how to make them.

If you can, please try to suggest some vegetarian dishes as there is a vegetarian girl in our class that my friend is trying to get with.

Any course

    Well, it's a difficult question.

Does she eat fish or eggs? And different kinds of soup are no-no, right?

Well, I don't know the extent of her vegetarianism, so we probably better be safe than sorry. However, if you know any spectacularly good dishes with eggs, she might eat eggs.

Probably eggs over fish, but neither if possible.

You can make Borsht without meat, or pirogi in huge quantities. Cabbage or mushrooms are good.

I can't cook for S**t but i'll give you some advice on getting women (well your friend that is). Don't change yourself for a woman, you look weak and she'll probably lose respect for you/him.

Advice. Make a regular Russian dish with meat and all.

Then make a smaller, separate vegetarian dish just for her. If she's nice she'll appreciate it and it might even give your friend an excuse to ask her out. If she doesn't appreciate it, then screw her, shes not worth your friend anyway

Fried potatoes garnished with boiled potatoes. If you want some variety, serve with a side of mashed potatoes.

And tea with lemon and too much sugar.

    Ahh, memories...

Our teacher assigned us to do a desert, so there should be no restrictions now since deserts don't have meat in them. We were thinking about компот из фруктов, but cant find any recipes. Any other suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

You may try "печеные яблоки с ягодами" (Baked apples with berries). Take a few apples (1 apple = 1 portion), remove part of the pulp through the hole in the top and fill the apples with berries mixed with sugar (it's better to take red and sourish berries, like currants, cowberries, cranberries, etc.).

Then put the apples on the tray, pour some water in it, so the apples won't be too dry, and bake them for about 15 minutes.
Cooked apples can be decorated with fresh berries and caster sugar (or any other dusting).
The taste depends largely on the kind of apples and berries you use.

The good thing is it's easy to cook one apple beforehand and decide whether you like this dessert or not.

PS. If you go for drinks, you may use these recipes:
Easy: Currant water (Морс смородиновый) - here
Slightly harder: Multilayered kissel (Многослойный кисель) - here

    a) Свежие яблоки.

Можно скомбинировать a) и c).

Here's a site with Russian recipes etc...
    http://www.russianfoods.com/recipes/view/default.asp

I made pelmeni from scratch a couple years ago, and my kitchen looked like a bomb went off... They were OK, but I'll use frozen ravioli in the future
I'm easily amused late at night...

I know gRomoZeka, I'll next have pelmeni in Izhevsk, next to the pelmeni statue. I posted it somewhere here in the past...
