You just need to discover a site where you can download books for free of charge. (Really, why should you pay for what you can get for free???) Try to make an enquiery thought a search enginee.
Here I listed a link which i found a long time ago:
http://bookz.ru/index.html

I guess I'll ask the obvious question: Are these downloads made available with the consent of the authors? My Russian isn't good enough to be able to judge that for myself by looking at the site.

Forget the word "consent" at this site. ;)
Nice avatar of yours.

If a site has 'z's instead of 's's and offers downloads, it's safe to assume that they're illegal. Good rule of thumb.

It will be a better world when all information is shared freely. When I write my next book, I will do just that. However, it seems too self-serving for me to make that decision for someone else. And, I may be depriving myself of that person's next work, if they are unable to support themselves as a writer.

Fine. The secret launch code for the nuclear missiles is 10-34-33-27-15. Or were those the lotto numbers? My ATM code is 3291. My safe combination is 23-42-63. Hans shot first.
Now do you see the problem with your statement? :P

Language frequently has multiple interpretations. However, I don't believe that anyone construed my use of the word "information" to include ATM codes, etc, or my use of the word "free" to mean "free of consideration for safety and security." So, no, I don't see a problem with the statement as it stands, in context.
Since my post took a stand against downloading pirated books, I'm not really sure where you're coming from on this. Were you just making a joke?
