The scandal was that the hospital where soldiers who were injured in Iraq and Afganistan was in a very bad conditions. Though such conditions might be described as usual average Russian hospital conditions.

Yep. They think that money spent on insurance is money wasted. I know such people. They think they are healthy enough to bother with insurance. Then, time comes when they regret it. Same with home insurance.

No doubt, such people exist. But the vast majority of people who don't have health care don't have it because they can not afford it. I know such people.

You have no idea how many people can not afford health insurance in America! The health/insurance/drug industry in the USA is obscene.

I read an article about the policies doctors use to prescribe the medical preparations to their patients in USA. They get paid for prescribing drugs to people. Guess, which drugs would they prescribe? Drugs that can help or drugs which are paid for the most? This is a crime, by the way. Doctors shouldn't get paid for prescriptions.
There's more. When drugs manufacturers compete for the market they counterfeit clinical test results and conceal any side effects made known during such tests. I don't remember all the preparations mentioned except Prosac and Tylenol. (Both are forbidden in Russia, by the way).
I don't want such medical care. It's a business, no one is interested in your health, everybody is interested in your purse only.

When the Americans say "We have the best medical care", "We have the best blah-blah-blah". It doesn't mean that this is true. They're sure about that but no one else is except a bunch of gullible gawks.

Actually, Norway has the best medical care But the lines are too long.

It is true that some doctors get incentives to prescribe certain drugs, but it isn't like they are giving patients Viagra when they need Penicillin or something. And of course you can't generalize and say that all doctors do this...

That's good that Norway's medical care is so good.

Well, it seems like our medicine's been going through a very hard time in the past couple of decades. The most discouraging thing is, I think, that some people who have enough money for chargeable treatment can receive one of the best treatment in the world while a lot of those in need of immediate treatment often find it difficult to see a doctor, let alone getting necessary medicine.

Tylenol is not legal in Russia? I've seen Advil at the Apteka along with lots of other American approved over the counter meds. I think I heard Sudaphed and other antihistimines are illegal too.
But since I saw on the Russian news that over 70% of the medicines in Russia are bootleg versions manufactured in China or a Moscow garage, I load up my suitcase with real meds every time I go to America. The only thing I buy in Russia is antibiotics (no prescription needed) but I smell them to make sure they are real.

There is a problem of contrafact medical preparations here, but it usually concerns small kiosks. Just don't buy anything in them, go to ordinary apothecary instead.

Well that's not what Putin was saying last week on TV. He was shown in a meeting demanding that this problem be cleaned up immediately. Also Rossiya chanel and NTV have had multiple news programs claiming that this is rampant in all the pharmacies. The packaging on the bootlegs is identical to the real thing but of course the pharmacies know that they must be fake because the price is so much lower than the real med. (This discount price savings is not passed on to the customers who pay the going price for the real drug).

When Putin says something, all media immediately go to hysterics about this.
I buy drugs in the nearby drugstore and have never experienced any of this.
Of course, the problem exists somewhere in Russia. Of course it needs to be dealt with, but after such hysteria people are suspicious about everything.
I'm an old cynic so I can also presume that this matter has been brought to public attention because of some pharmaceutical companies are stuggling for the market. Cancelling the licence of your competitor always pays off.
If something is happening in Russia - someone had paid for this. It's a proven fact!
Well, there are some fraudulent drugs selling somewhere and just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean that they don't exist. But then - don't buy a medicine that costs half of the market price and buy drugs in proven specialied stores, and not in the Metro - follow this simple rules and you'll be fine.

Как мне представляется, никто ни за кем не закреплен. Я, например, дважды менял поликлиннику: брал карточку, приходил в другую, предъявлял в регистратуре карточку и полис со словами "хочу обслуживаться у вас", мне ставили на карточке штампик и все.

Другое дело, что, насколько я знаю, страховые деньги ко мне не привязаны. Это нужно менять в системе здравоохранения в первую очередь. Если поликлиника оказывает мне услуги, она должна выставлять счет, а страховая компания его оплачивать. Тогда не будет разницы между платными и бесплатными учреждениями, и тогда будет заинтересованность лечебных учреждений и врачей в пациентах, поскольку нет пациентов - нет денег. А в условиях, когда деньги распределяются по-советски, право менять одну бесплатную поликлинику на другую ситуацию не меняет.

я слышал, что какой-то главный русский врач (ну министер какой-то) хочет исключит всех очень больних людей от страхования, потому что слишком много денег на них идет... Да, лучше им умереть...
