    tapping your throat to indicate drinking booze-Russian thing

    I know it's kind of old fashioned but I love it....

    does anyone know why that means drinking?

    From what I know , long ago in 18 century the stamp on throat was a special award. The people with that sign could drink for free in governmental pubs.
    So people when they came in , tapped that sign so barman noticed it.
