Writing Russian using a western keyboard

It is a hell for me to Russian. Does anyone know how to write using a western keyboard?
The similar questions were raised in the past. They want to go to different sites.

The funny thing is all those sites are in Russian. I don't understand those advanced Russian?

I am using Linux. It is Mandriva Linux.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Hello Gorky,
I use Suse Linux 10.1 and KDE. Are you running KDE? The docs at doc.mandrivalinux.com only mention KDE. For me I choose "K Menu" icon, "Personal Settings", "Regional & Accessibility", "Keyboard Layout", add the Russian keyboard. Then on the "Switching Options" tab I make sure "Show Country Flag" is checked. Then on the botton right a flag will be there and clicking it will change the keyboard and language.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Thanks fortheether

I have KDE 3.4 version. I always use KDE. I have Mandriva Linux 2006 version. It is a 64bit program.

    I found the following:
First I right clicked the K Menu

    Country - Region and Language.
When I right click --> Add a new entry
I could go through all the files. I don't know which one to add. Is it on the 'bin' directory, 'etc directory' , 'mnt directory' or 'boot' directory'?

Mine just lists all the countries that are available. I don't know what subdirectory they are stored in and probably never need to know. I have a test computer and within a week can install Mandrake and try it. Did you look at the documentation on Mandvira's site?

Also - if you want an answer quicker go to:

    www.linuxquestions.org

choose "forums", "linux - distributions", then "Mandvira". Register and post the question there. You'll get an answer probably the same day.

I have been working with Linux for more than 5 years. I have never ever tried to work with Russian.
