Genes have very little to do with how fat you are. They don't affect much more than your ability to put on muscle at a fast or slow rate, which is also mostly affected by your diet. You either burn more calories than you eat, you don't burn them all, or you burn as many as you eat. It is that simple. Some people don't look like they gain much weight because they are taller, but even 10 pounds shows a difference.

I myself blame the lack of education in dieting and the mentality torwards food. Here you don't eat to live, you eat until your bloated.
