Thread: Wimbledon Soon!!!!

With Wimbledon starting next week i thought i would make a topic

Maria Sharapova again has a good chance of winning the womens title as her favourite surface is grass and she is in good form winning Birminghams grass court title on sunday.

Safin made it through to the final of the halle grass court tournament and although he has had a less then great time at Wimbledon in the past perhaps he is capable of getting far if he finds his game.

Anastacia Myskina has been in bad form recently but is capable of getting far if she finds form, Svetlana Kuznetsova is also capable of doing well as is Elena Dementieva but both will need to play well and prove themselves on grass.

I havent mentioned all the Russian players because there are just so many so feel free to talk about others

And where is Borg?

i think Borg was swedish and retired about 20 years ago

Of course, here in the host country, all eyes will be on Tim Henman. Every year, us Brits hope he will win; every year, he comes close to winning and then doesn't; every year people slag him off about how rubbish he is after he gets knocked out; every year I think it's a shame that he is our one good tennis player and he gets so much flack for it. It's completely out of order.

Greg Rusedsky, being half British and half Canadian, also gets a bad deal - he's a plucky Brit going in to the competition, and a stupid Canadian once he loses.

There is another British player called Andrew Murray who will be very good in a couple of years time so luckily we have someone to replace tim in the long run but sadly we do not have as many top class players as a country like Russia or Spain. I would like to see "Tiger" Tim win it but it is probably unlikely

If anyone is going to wimbeldon to see the tennis, could you do me a favour, there is a CIU workingmans club there, if you go in there ask for a man called Richard Scarf and when you see him, remind him that he still owes me ( I used to play the organ there)
