    Where is everyone from?

Ok, I know this poll may have been done before, but there is new people all the time. So I am curious, what country are you from and tell about the city you live in and what is it like? No need to give a specific name of the city if you don't want in case your worried about some obsessive internet stalker hunting you down. Just tell what your city is like and common things there that may not be found elsewhere. Also, are there allot of Russian speaking people where you live? Thanks!

Also, Chicago....wouldnt you leave the "s" out of the Illinois when using Russian because the S is silent?

either or both, it doesn't matter

I am from Mexico City. There is a very small Russian population or people who speak Russian in my country. Maybe around 1,000 people. There was a large Russian immigration after the Soviet Revolution, most established in the Baja Peninsula and still keep their language and habits. There was another immigration wave of Jews coming from Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. And more recently, ten years ago, many scientists, musicians and other artists have arrived.

    From London (voted Western Europe).

Currently in Harbin China. Russian speakers: a lot, they form the largest part of the foreign/expat contingent. There are also some Russian tourists (during the summer) who come here for shopping as far as I can tell, plus a fair few local street traders and taxi drivers speak a little (badly).

Things that can be found here but not where you are: probably far too many to mention

    Los Angeles, California too.
There are-as far as I know-many many many Russians here. I love it. We have streets like Santa Monica and now Sunset that are starting to have more and more restaurants, stores, and other businesses started or owned by Russians.

It's not very interesting, but you can close your eyes and think...there lives our Prince of Somalia!
Aw, man, do I want some enchiladas. Perhaps I will pay my 25 cents after work today and walk across the toll bridge to Mexico and get a plate of 'em. Mmmm.

So, yeah. Born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Currently living in the Rio Grande Valley. All in all, I do prefer WI, but the enchiladas are much better here.

Yo Lindzi, come to Las Cruces next year for the Whole Enchilada Fiesta. You might even get to see the fiesta's mascot...cleverly named "Twefie."

As for how the enchilada tastes, it's nothing spectacular, but come on. It's like a thirty foot wide enchilada. You can even come again a week later for the Southern New Mexico State Fair, which is basically the Whole Enchilada Fiesta without the big enchilada.

A thirty-foot enchilada. The mind boggles.

Are the hot air balloons at the State Fair, or is the hot air balloon festival yet another distinct New Mexican hoopla? Y'all have a lot of parties.
