My native languages is Ukrainian and Russian.
This two languages are very similar. I understand a Polish, Belarussian, Moldavian, cause this languages are real similar. But not a lot of russians can understanding Ukrainian. More interesting to me, how the Swiss understand the three languages at once as native: Italian, Germany and Franch. One year ago I met Swiss who speak this three languages as native, and English in addition. That was umbelievable.

Not all Swiss people speak all three languages, my Swiss housemate only speaks French fluently (and English semi-fluently), she knows about as much German as I do (pre-intermediate level) and no Italian.

Russian is my native language and i'm proud it. Now i wish that English became my next language

Maybe he meant Romanian. But I wonder how Romanian can be similar to Polish and Belorussian?? It's not even a Slavic language:

Moldavian is not the same as Romanian, at least that's what I was told (by some Moldavian girl).

I have heard: Moldavian and Rumanian are exactly the same but Moldavian is spelled with Cyrillic letters. It is a mix of Romance and Slavic. It's definitely not a language I am familiar with.

Judge for yourselves: Gromozeka posted a very cute video of a Romanian kid a while back which I happened to bookmark... EDIT: Apparently the kid is actually Moldavian but lives in Romania.

I don't understand anything apart from recognising a few words from Russian + it seems to use "La" as definite article like Italian.
