What do you think about Bush?
I making a prediction right now..this topic is going to be one of the biggest ones on the forum.

I think this topic could spark a lot of controversy quite quickly.
Edit: I see I've been beaten to it.
:D Your comment is welcome too.Quote:

MADNESS!
Я хочу, чтобы Буш умер. Презираю его всей душой.
Я хочу, чтобы Буш дал мне свои богатства, и потом, чтобы он исчез с лица земли.
Я хочу, чтобы претзел задушил его.'
Lol как сказат “to choke on a pretzel?"
I support Bush in most of his political goals. Not all of them, of course, but most.
I think Bush has been a disaster so far... sorry to say... :D
If anything this should be in the Politics section. Also this is just gonna lead to arguements and doesn't really have anything to do with Russian, or Russia so if I were a mod. I'd close it.
Basically, anyone outiside America thinks he's a total moron.
What moderators?
I like to tie knots in big plastic trash bags, hang it from one end, at night, and light the bottom.
Agreed -- this doesn't belong here -- or anywhere really. Besides, quite frankly, it's at best a poorly phrased question; at worst, an entirely stupid one. I hate things like this -- "what do you think about ____?" What do you think about air? What do you think about tractors? What do you think about earthworms? What do you think about 15th century Portugese furniture? Do you get the point here? The only way I really see this as anywhere near pertinent is if it's a half-way informed, fleshed-out question, such as "What do you think of Bush's relationship with Putin?" or "What do you think about Russia's position on energy matters and how do you think it affects the US?" And it would probably be even more helpful if you were to specify to whom you were talking -- it's pretty obvious what Americans think -- Google will turn this up in about 2 seconds. Do you want Russians' opinions? Slavs'? Non-Americans'? Little Green Mens'?Quote:

Sweet! More questions to answer!Quote:

What do you think about tractors? - I love tractors, once I drove a tractor, that was the highlight of my life. I like particularily green ones!
What do you think about earthworms? - Earthworm Jim rules! Anyone else seen the cartoon?
Do you get the point here? - That is a though one... I don't know...
"What do you think of Bush's relationship with Putin?" - Oh they have a very deep and soulful relationship. They call each other friends, so that is good. Maybe USA will be Russia's friend?
"What do you think about Russia's position on energy matters and how do you think it affects the US?" - Well Russia obviously thinks that they can use their energy to influence internal politics of other countries. Using energy as a punishment or reward to former soviet states is just plain silly. I think the US is not immediately effected, since the main trading partner for Russia is Europe and Asia, but in the long run it will affect the US.
Maybe the question should be "What do you think about what the link in my sig. takes you to?"
But yes, this is also a bit of a self-interested question, by that I mean, you come on to a site for learning the Russian language, asking about YOUR president. Why does eveyone have to talk about America and Bush all the time?
I can see maybe you wanted to see what Russians think.
1. Russians don't like America
2. Therefore Russians don't like Bush
3. No one likes Bush outside America anyway
4. Most people on this forum are American.
5. They are the type of Americans who have passports and are learning about other languages and culture so probably don't like Bush.
Well, seeing as how this thread has gone to pot, I might as well oblige you...Quote:

d) Did somebody say soulful?

Your only mistake was not making it sound just as cheesy/creepy as it was -- he "looked into his eyes" and was "able to "get a sense of his soul," if I remember correctly. That's sounds like a sci-fi movie. Where are the zombies?
e) Neither silly nor ineffective in regards to the US. They have a valuable tool to project power and can very well use it -- ask the Ukrainians and Georgians (cutting the power to the Russian embassy in Tbilisi was priceless though!). We may not be supplied by them, but it sure as heck would have an immediate and dramatic effect if they were to say, hault production for a bit. The price would go insane, and every country in the world would be scrambling to get theirs before anyone else.
1 out of 5 answers was serious -- that ain't too bad is it?
I take especial offense at that remark, and would be glad to discuss it with you further -in a politics forum or some other, more appropriate venue. Or here, if that's the direction the topic leads.Quote:

Я хочу чтобы он подавился претцелом (not sure actually how to spell pretzel in Russian and/or if there is another Russian word for it :) )Quote:

Never heard of this one :) and it doesn't look like a pretzel either. Or maybe I am just being too restrictive and the pretzel does not have to be tiny, dry and salty...Quote:

Those silly comments about Russia using it's gas and oil to influence politics is just a bunch of American/Ukrainian propaganda. Ukraine has been getting their energy resourses from Russia at a super discount ever since they were part of the Soviet Union. Now Russia is a capitalist country and can no longer subsidize it's former union members. When Russia said that Ukraine will now be charged market prices they refused and Russia did the same thing any American gas company does when a customer doesn't pay their bill (turn off the gas!). Ukraine cried "discrimination" to every foreign press service that would listen and started stealing gas from Russia's pipeline.
As for the stupid propaganda that Russia blew up it's own gasline in the remote mountains during the worst freeze in history just to punish Georgia, well figure it out for yourself. By the way, Russia immediately sent out repair teams that risked their lives to fix those pipes and save Georgians from freezing to death. Gas was flowing again in less than a week.
Yeah, they look th same, but taste very much different! Pretzels are salty while Russian крендели are sweet. Pretzels IMHO are in fact from Jewish cuisine...Quote:

Well, Lingvo translates Крендель as a pretzel or "knot-shaped biscuit." Knot-shaped biscuit just rolls off the tongue so smoothly...
So you decided to respond to that with your even more silly Russian propaganda? :)Quote:

Helllooooooo, isn't it exactly that what it is doing to Belarus for example? If they want to be a capitalist and fair country, make everybody pay the same price. Don't just suddenly decide to increase your price when you have a contract that sets the price until 2009 :D If you think there were no political motivation whatsoever, then I think you are a victim of Russian propoganda :D (no offense) I do agree with you on the Georgian thing though, Russia might have stupid leaders, but they can't be that stupid. Probably those Chechen terrorists who have even said they would target the Russian economy.
Umm... Sorry... for turning political... I just love it
Крендельки (кренделёк is a diminutive from крендель) is a common name for pretzels. They can be salty, sweet and there are other flavours too.Quote:

Really? I've never seen salty ones... Can they be dry like pretzels or bubliki? The ones in the picture look soft, and that is how I always thought about them too.Quote:
