This is from Dominique Arel's Ukraine List, this morning at 10 am. I thought I'd post the update here:

**With 83.4 percent of the precincts reporting, the Party of Regions (30.6 percent) is closing in on the 31 percent score predicted by the exit poll, while the combined score of the Tymoshenko and Yushchenko Blocs has slowly decreased to 37.4 percent (the exit poll had them at 40 percent). A final score of 37-31 appears likely. Pending a sudden change in their fortunes, neither the Lytvyn nor the Vitrenko Blocs will make it to parliament (they are both around 2.5 percent; PORA, at 1.5, was never a contender). The Socialists (6.0) and Communists (3.6) will be the only small parties crossing the parliamentary threshold. This means that up to 22 percent the vote will be "wasted", i.e. will have gone to parties other than the five entering parliament (or will have been discounted). Under PR rules, this 22 percent of the vote will be redistributed proportionally to the five "winning" parties. A 37-31 "Orange" edge over the Party of Regions will thus translate into a 47-40 edge in the proportion of seats in parliament. Quite interestingly, a 47-40 edge is statistically identical to the 52-44 edge that Yushchenko enjoyed over Yanukovych in the December 26, 2004, vote. Yanukovych, whom everyone considered politically dead in the water a year and three months ago, has essentially reconquered his position, with landslide majorities throughout the East and South. Tymoshenko continues to lead over Nasha Ukraina, 22-15. Kyiv has gone Yulia, who is clobbering Yushchenko 39-16 in the capital. Regarding the turnout, there is utter confusion. Anders Aslund tells me that Ukrainska pravda announced the turnout at 67 percent, and a wire report has CEC Head Yaroslav Davidovych claiming that the turnout was around 70 percent, even though the official website of the Central Electoral Commission clearly puts it at 58.97 percent, with a proviso that the figures are "provisional"Šbut there is a huge difference between 59 and 70 percent. Natalka Patsiurko (below) demonstrates that the drop in turnout, if it indeed happened, is consistent throughout Ukraine, being even steeper in Kyiv than in Donetsk. Since Yanukovych, after all, appears to be obtaining the same proportional score - once the small parties and wasted vote are controlled for - than during the final Orange vote, then my suggestion in UKL384 that the low turnout (again, assuming the turnout was indeed low, which I am beginning to seriously doubt) was hurting him appears to have been incorrect -DA**

    real-time info from CVK:

    to make counting easier:
    http://zliypes.com.ua/elections/?dvd

    And this the main intrigue:

витренка напоминает сейчас ту улитку, которая за каждый следующий отрезок времени проползает путь в два раза меньший, чем за предыдущий. и пол-стрны, затаив дыхание, следит за этим слюнявым марш-ползком. и надежда, что эта грозная предводительница клоунов таки не доползет, постепенно переростает в уверенность.

Wouldn't a coalition between Yushchenko and Yanukovych be the best for UKraine. I mean, yes those two will probably disagree on everything, but, it would leave less Ukrainians isolated.

If it is just Yushchenko and the Orange lot, then the pro-Russians in the East of the country will feel isolated. If it is Yanukovych and the pro-Russian lot, then the orange supporters in West Ukraine are going to feel isolated.

I'm sure Yulia is very happy with herself, after she beat the man who sacked her.

Of course you are -- just as he is free to declare his opinion that you are ignorant. Free speech is a real biatch, ain't it?

It made me wet my pants. My warm and fuzzy feeling dissappeared. I don't know how I'll ever live with myself. I can't imagine how you felt! I'm still just hoping MasterAdmin will ban this clown...

I was going to make a reply to TATY regarding his bi-partisan approach etc., using my limited knowlege of Ukrainian politics (I read 'Ukraine Now' & ForUm once a week, I know a few Ukrainians). Make a quick humorous comment about doing a web-search for information about Yulia and finding an article about a Russian porno movie where the "Yulia" gets down with "Putin" in a Hind . I was going to say that partisan politics is fine as long as after the elections, all parties are well represented.

Then this homo-erotic 'rap' shows up... Too funny... Then I noticed Орчун lives in NEVERLAND The guy misses sleep-overs at Michael Jackson's place. :P

I needed a good laugh, this made me forget about fixing the plumbing today.
I'll be back tomorrow to see where this goes, FER SHUR!!!
I'm easily amused late at night...
