    Things That I Hate:

I have decided to start a small thread about stuff that I am expert with and being a person who likes to dwell on what others say is the negative, this topic will be about stuff that I hate.

    And here it is:

    I hate it when;

    People type "е" instead of "ё" !!!!!!!!!!

Don't they know that they are two different letters. Look at them! One has funny dots on top. How would you like it if I did not bother to cross my "T's" and I sent you a "leller" with none of the f ing "T" s crossed and you all had to stop and think about whether I meant a "T" or and "l" ............hmmmmm???

    over and out.... DDT

    I hope you are kidding.
They do know that they are two different letters. There's just no ambiguity if they use "е" in place of both. Moreover, ё is in the upper left corner of the keyboard, just where "~" is. If you, for example, type with all 10 fingers, you are forced to move the left hand out of its normal position to reach "ё" (unless you have very long fingers). If you don't use the your fingers while typing (like most people), you have to move your hand even further.
But even before people started using computer keyboards to type text, ё was getting out of use. Perhaps that's why it was pushed to the very corner of the keyboard.

An interesting opinion on this matter:

DDT, the letter "ё" is very young.

Not even every novell is printed with "ё".
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

DDT, you probably hate it when е is used instead of ё because you're not a native Russian speaker and you treat the Russian letters and consequently the way they're spelt quite differently to Russians. Very few really pay much attention to which of the letters is used. There are umpteen books where ё is not used at all. You can take it or leave it.
Your example with the English 'T' is not really good here because "T" has never been substituted with "I" in the English language.
For my part, I have a fairly neutral attitude towards using ё or е. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that the reason I type е instead of ё is because the latter is not ideally located on my keyboard.

My example is a perfect example because I am a perfect person who mixes perfect margaritas with perfect biceps. And anyway in longhand if you don't cross your t's it is confusing because some peoples 'l's have no loop in them.

if you're Russian you know how a word is pronounced so it doesn't matter but if you're a foreigner you don't know whether to pronounce it like е оr ё.

By that logic they don't need any letters at all since Russians know how all words are pronounced!!

Well, I know you're a perfect person and always remember to cross your T's in writing.
Anyway, I think that the letter ё won't be fully used for quite a long time.

Sheez, man, that one made me laugh my head off...... (I look very silly now)....

I was tought (by Russian teachers) that "ё" is not a "real letter" in itself, but an "indication" that the e is soft - much like accented text for learners. I have never - ever - seen ё used in a "proper" Russian text (i.e. not meant for children, strange foreigners, or other learners).

I would find it easier too, if it were always written like that - but then, I'd find it easier if all Russian texts were accented as well..... :P
Ой, голова у меня кружится |-P ...... and my brain hurts too....

Well I think that you should use this letter because it is so pretty. Look! It has nice on dots on it. It really adds to the aesthetics of the Russian alphabet. You should all be grateful that you have this letter and start using it as much as possible before some evil bureaucrats decide to do away with it. Then you will be sorry. You will miss this e with her little dots on top!

Я согласен с русскими, потому что мне тоже лень писать эту букву.
