Well, жалко, but I can't say I'm surprised.
    The connection is "Metamagical Themas".
You can see a brief description of Hofstadter's work at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Hofstadter

The book version of Metamagical Themas has to count as one of the most fascinating things I've ever read. But he's much more famous for "Godel, Escher, Bach".

*Look* Video Game fanatic to the rescue

Hey guys, if you want to know anything about Tetris you should be watching Icons on G4tech tv. They have one about Tetris and it WILL tell you everything there is to know from the creater and all the stealers who stole it, and then Nintendo said, 'Forget you all, I'll buy the game and title.' But seriously, watch it or go on www.g4techtv.com and just look for the Icons show. - A guy who got up to level 110 on the Nintendo version and said, "This game isn't suppose to be beaten"

Thank you, it's interesting. I heard about "Godel, Escher, Bach" (although never read it).

I've read his "Математические головоломки и развлечения" ( or "Математические чудеса и тайны")
