I think all orthodox churches have relations. By the way, do you all know that they are independant and there's no such figure as Pope in Catholic world? From orthodox point of view a Pope is a mere archbishop or patriarch, and that's why he must ask other archbishop a permission to visit his region. Secular officials have no right to grant such a permission.

As for R-E relations, #1 must be Pushkin.

I remember watching some program about ancient churches in Ethiopia. One of them was actually carved into the ground. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of it.

Wow! Thanks, Harbay. Yes, those rock churches in Lalibela were what I had seen. When were they built?

BTW, what kind of food is that below the bread? It looks like grey rolls.

I found some more pics of Ethiopia for anyone who is interested:

Harbay, do you have links to audio of the Ethiopian language? I am interested in hearing it and maybe learning some phrases.

Ok. Letz begin with some background facts:

The official "Ethiopian" language is called "AMHARIC"

Amharic originated from one of the oldest languages called Geez, which is the root of many languages spoken through out the world. Geez,  liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox church. Ge'ez is a Semitic language of the Southern Peripheral group(SABEAN from SABA who was Ethiopian), to which also belong the South Arabic dialects and Amharic, one of the principal languages of Ethiopia. Both Ge'ez and the related languages of Ethiopia are written and read from left to right, in contrast to the other Semitic languages.

Here are some Amharic (geez) word and phrases: Youm ay proof it with this english -amharic dictionary

Kebra Nagast = 'Glory of Kings':

This ancient Ethiopian text gives an elaborated account of the meeting of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, claiming that they became the parents of a son Menelik, who later stole the treasured Ark of the Covenant from his father's Temple and brought it to dwell in Ethiopia.
