    Pravda.ru Is this serious?

I like to look at Pravda.ru because it is humorous. It is like American magazines such as the National Enquirer- all sensationalized nonsense. But I wonder, do Russians consider Pravda.ru as legitimate journalism.
For example, today's front page includes articles about Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie. I click away immediately from any story about these two "well known idiots". But do Russians think they are important. To any intelligent American, they are ludicrous nitwits.
    What do you think??

I don't care about that couple either. Such news may be of some interest to some sort of people here in Russia but in general, as Vincent Tailors said, only the young seem to follow the last news of Hollywood.
Personally, I think many of the famous Hollywood actors are very good at filming but I couldn't care less about their personal life. What really annoys me is that they seem to enjoy being discussed in the mass media.

Exactly. I want to see their play, nothing more is required of them. And definitely not sh@tting on the front page of my favourite newspaper.

I tend not to read newspapers having news about the personal life of American movie stars on their front pages. I prefer newspapers and magazines where the last page is devoted to this sort of thing.

Yes, all these details about personal life of movie and other stars are becoming too annoying. My wife buys "7 дней" magazine from time to time for TV program and I'd looked through it once. I wonder, are there any idiots, who read something exept TV program in such magazines and papers?

And about Tom Cruise and his wedding... I heard that he is some adept of saintology. They are all poor brain-washed sick people. So why should I care about some stranger and crazy person's wedding?

I agree with those, who consider constant reading magazines of that sort as a kind of madness.
And I wonder, which periodicals do you prefer? As to me, I like BBC and Telegraph Daily most of all.
Please, correct my English. Many thanks

At the weekend, BBC News 24 was carrying on-the-hour 'Breaking News' updates from some castle in Italy where Tom Cruise was getting married to someone-or-other, and it was near the top of their terrestrial news broadcasts all day too.

    There is no escape.

    very serious to the publisher.

That should pretty much cover it!

May be 'advanced' people or dissidents said so. As far as I remember common folks considered it serious AND incredibly boring, so almost nobody read it.

In primary school (the first and second grades) we had to read some article from papers of that kind ("Правда", "Труд", "Известия") and to retell it to the class once a week. The only way to live through it not loosing your mind was to find a smallest article in the whole issue (preferably about sport, space or animals). All other stuff was about collective farmers or politics and was very dull.
