    new russian dictionary

I've been frustrated by electronic dictionaries that have no 'ё' character in their font, so i made an effort to create a translation database with corrections. I also wanted something fast, and openly available to fix errors, licensed under GPL.

I used the Mueller dictionary, and compared with another i had to create an SQL database of words. I think its about 99% complete, and maybe its time for other to test it.

It is available at the webpage: http://klogd.qbang.org/dictionary/ http://klogd.qbang.org/dictionary/

It currently has nearly 94,000 entries in english, and 125,000 in russian.
Provided on the page is the source code archive, source rpm and i386 rpm for fedora, and a windows self-installing executable. I think most will be interested in the windows executable.
I hope to find someone to test the database, and possibly others fluent in russian to find or correct errors in the database.

The database was verified with parsing software, but it must run for nearly two weeks continuously to cover the entire dictionary. The parser can only push buttons and capture the screen up to a speed limit without incurring errors.

I want to also find a hosting mirror in the FSU, for i fear somebody might think that "собака == dog" is their own intellectual property. I hope you find it useful and will report errors.

Why do you have so many more Russian words than English words?
    Я взял палку и нож, мелки и бумагу и направился к холмам.

if i count "words" without spaces, there are about 57,000 english and 55,000 russian words.
So there are really more english words than russian.

A little piece of the russian word list as an example:
    вводный
    вводный: вводная часть
вводный: вводная часть акта передачи правового титула
    вводный: вводное отверстие
    вводный: вводное предложение
    вводный: вводное слово
    вводный: вводное устройство

All these words slows down the start time of the dictionary GUI, because it must read the entire database from disk to generate a word list to display.
