What interested you in Russian, and do you have any books or somewhere to begin?
-Fantom
my interest in Russian is the fact that i plan to travel soon..I have a Russian name...thanks to my parents..and i've only just begun thinking about learning Russian..so it's a ground up education so to speak..this seemed the best thing to try first...and hey thanks for the welcome
Kat
Yeah, you can definitely learn a lot here, and there are many native speakers of Russian that speak English better than us native speakers! :)
Native.... that sounds so primal...
-Fantom
And what is your Russian name? I'm sure bandycat is something like a nickname (hm, a mutant of bandicoot?)
Hey, keep your hands off the bandicoots!
Why?
Even though they don't look like they have teeth, they can bite back hard!!!!

hellow bandycat...
welcome aboard!!!
r u originally a russian?
caz if im not mistaken u did mentioned that u have russian name?
ok.... :o .... uhhh so... why is a bandicoot... uhhh... important? or did i miss out on a joke?
Nah, no real joke... Rytom asked if "Bandycat" was a nickname for a "Bandicoot". Then, DDT said to keep your hands off the bandicoots. It's an animal native to Australia, and he is Australian. That's pretty much how it started...Quote:

No bears!))) I live in Moscow and i've seen them only in the zoo and in the circus!!!
What is about freezing even in summer? I don't want to live in Russia unless it's, say, 70 degrees Fahrenheit! Brrrr...
So you gathered all the bears over the city and put them into cages? Pure bears...Quote:

it's hot in summer! about 30 degrees!))) but the winters are cold it can be even 20degrees below zero!)))

No, of course not. But I thought they could just wander around cities because Russia is sort of underdevelopment country and the level of civilization is pretty low.
interesting position!) my country is rather high developed!) they wander somewhere in sibiria? but not around Moscow-believe me!) there are many little towns and villages around it?so it's hard to imagine something like a bear there!
not everyone in my country drinks vodka!
Котярочка, ты не поняла, что это они выделывались для поддержания разговора? Тут много шутников собралось. :DQuote:

They have every right to do so :D There are a lot of immigrants in the US and they can say whatever they want. For example, that they're native speakers of English.
It depends what you mean by 'bears'. If you mean 'animals' you are wrong. If you mean people you are right :evil:Quote:

I know it was just a joke.
That was the "official invitation" to ask questions, though! :?Quote:

Some old American text-books for kids said that you could really meet a bear on Russian streets. That's funny. Every Canadian knows it's just a joke. I didn't hear anyone say anything like that while in Canada.
I didn't say I'm American :oQuote:

This is impossible. C'mon it's a common fact. EVERYBODY knows it. I saw it on TV many times.Quote:
