What does 'MLM' stand for?
"A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read"
Mark Twain

WHSmith
Sorry,

Then I'm afraid I'm of no help here.

it is said, that this business is very popular in America and other foreign country. And I'm very interested what people think about such a firms Amway, Herbalife.
Generally what is people attitude to it?
Certainly not for me!!! It helps to be a fast talking salesman type or a social climber with good organizing skills to make it in those businesses.Originally Posted by Natalia Petrenko

Have you bought something from Amway?
People from Amwaysay that it is the best firm in the world. And many millioneers are from Amway.
Iwould like to know more about it. What do people abroad think about it
Isn't MLM the pyramid scheme?

Yes, piramide.
But some of them not bad.
have you any expirience?
My friend is one of those "Get rich quick" people... He is always onto something like that... Advocare, amway, etc... He is selling beers at Green Bay now.
None of them have ever worked.
I had a job in Sales for Best Buy for one year, and I learned two things:
1) I suck at Sales, and will never take any kind of Sales position
and
2) I have a lot of really neat crap that plugs in becuase you get a very good discount on everything but computers!
Fantom's net profit working part-time at Best Buy for a year: $10,000
Money Fantom saved by buying almost every piece of electronic equipment he owns while working at Best Buy with employee discount: Priceless!!!

Yes, I have had experience with MLM. I have tried 2 MLM's. For me, no success with them.Originally Posted by Natalia Petrenko
It can be very difficult to make good money. Whether you are successful depends much on whether you are a good salesman, with a lot of energy and discipline. Also, many MLM companies fail and go out of business...you lose all of your investment.
Be very, very careful. Amway is reputable, and it has been in business for many years, but I know several people who could not make much money with Amway. Also, most MLM companies require an initial investment of money from you.
I want to be perma-banned...

По-русски это называется "сетевой маркетинг".
I want to tell you a story about it. After graduating from the university, I, naturally, started looking for a job. I have got a programmer diploma so I wanted to apply for an IT job. When I was reading job offers in a newspaper I came accross an item that advertised great job opportunities in "сетевой маркетинг". I had never heard of "сетевой маркетиг" before and I naively thought that the term "сетевой маркетиг" is somehow related to computer networks.
So I came to their office for an interview and the first question I have been asked was if I know what "сетевой маркетиг" is.
So I replied 'Is it somehow connected to computer networks?'
Then were was a moment of silence, they were severely shocked by my reply about computer networks.
Of couse then one of managers smilingly expained me what "сетевой маркетиг"means. We have been laughing together for a while and I left their office feeling rather confused and disappointed.
Единственное, что люди любят давать бесплатно - это советы.
My uncle and aunt work for Herbalife and they do good at it. It is their only source of income and they travel all over the world. You just have to work at it, believe in it, and sell it. Personally, I wouldn't do it because it is not for me.

LOL! I bet you have a lot of cool gadgets though, Fantom.Originally Posted by fantom605

Sorry for answering a question you asked Dobry, but I'll take a stab at it if no one minds...
I think to be a successful salesperson (which you have to be in order to make a lot of money in MLM), you have to have a certain level of manipulation (the ability to change someone's mind/actions) in your character. I was never good at that.
To be perfectly fair, though, when I worked at Best Buy, I wasn't on commission. It didn't matter how or what I sold, I didn't see any profit. So, the customer would say "no" to the service plan, and I would say "ok, let's go check out" because why bother? So that management would pat me on the head? Maybe if I was on commission, I would have tried harder. I don't know, and will never find out!

dear Natalia Petrenko,
i'm sorry, are you working in mlm?
just curious
To Fantom
Thanks a lot for your unswering,
I see the problems are the same. MLM isn't an easy business.
But I always think about the results, and it helps me.
No problem!
Just to clear something up, though, by "manipulation", I meant you have to be able to convice someone that they need something even if they don't really need it.
There is a saying here, probably there also, that goes "He/she could sell ice makers to Eskimos!"
Everyone knows Eskimos don't need ice makers, since they live in very cold climates, but this person is so good at selling that he can still convince the Eskimos to buy ice makers...
