Yeah, I've never accusatively referred to the plural of a feminine animate.

New Penguin says Я люблю русских девушек.

I got confused with

Я знаю девушек is more popular on Google. And I've checked two books now and they both say use the genitive plural for animates regardless of gender.

я знаю девушек-it's correct but it's Accusative

Like:

Я знаю Ивана

Some people will call it Animate Accusative, others will call it genitive. It is actually the genitive case though.

Animate Accusative is a phrase used to make it easier for learners to understand.

Hence, it takes the genitive forms of adjectives: Я знаю молодого человека.
