The outline of the setting and the plot.

Two main characters, a boy and a girl, living and growing in two fictional small Russian towns.
The boy is Андрей Стужин (1986) and the girl is Ирина Карельцева (1987).
Andrey Stuzhin is from Vostochny-4, a closed town with a factory producing kettle handles for the whole Soviet Union (in fact — radar sets for submarines). In 1992 the factory will be closed, the town renamed to Zarechensk, and most of the population left unemployed.
Irina Kareltseva was born in Belyi Brod (Белый Брод), a large district centre in a fictional agrarian oblast.
In 2003 Andrey enters the state university in a large Russian city (name not invented yet) where a year later he meets Irina who's entered the same university in 2004.
