AleX1... honestly, are you looking for romance with an English-speaker?? This forum is not romantic, and not a good-place to try to start a relationship.

Подруга (girlfriend) can be interpreted by native-English-speakers in a romantic-way... and I doubt you will find women (girls) here, who will be interested in romance. This may create a misunderstanding in interpretation.

This is an educational forum, for Russian/English exchange.

It was the way, and the context, in which he wrote his original post. It was quickly obvious he was looking for romance, and he confirmed in a later post that this was part of his intention.

There is nothing wrong with searching for a Russian girlfriend... the problem is that this forum is not designed or used for this purpose... therefore in this forum, he is not efficiently seeking or efficiently using dating resources. There are several reliable and trusted sources on the internet for dating searches. This forum is not one of these, in my opinion.

Our advice was meant to be helpful, so that he doesn't waste valuable and precious time searching here.

I wish him the best of luck in his search, and I truly hope he finds his 'true love'. I'm a 'romantic'. So, we were trying to navigate him toward better web-paths.

I'm not sure where our OP is located, whether in Russia, Europe, North America?

In North America one of the best internet dating services is "eHarmony.com". It is very reputable and very safe. I won't go into a lengthy description, but it has been around for many years and has a good reputation. I know several happily married couples that met thru eHarmony, and I met my girlfriend thru eHarmony.

In Europe, and I think Russia also, there is "whereheartsmeet.com". It is primarily for expats living abroad, but I think anyone can sign up for it.

Also, "yahoo.com" has it's own dating/matching service, but I don't know much about it. I think it is worldwide, though, so Russia would be included.

"Match.com" is one of the other big worldwide services. But I don't know anything about it.
